Japan deems it important and hails the expansion of Russia's economic presence in the APEC countries, Japanese Ambassador to Moscow Issei Nomura said in an exclusive RIA Novosti interview.
In the diplomat's words, "in the present world, Russia's participation in and contribution to the attainment of the fundamental principles of APEC, which mean stable growth of regional economies, the strengthening of the system of multilateral trade and elimination of obstacles for trade and investments, are becoming a necessity." "Active promotion of cooperation between Japan and Russia in energy, first of all, the now discussed issue of implementation of the project to build the Pacific oil pipeline, along with the Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 projects realized now, is of strategic importance," the ambassador noted.
"These processes strengthen the relations of interdependence between the APR countries and contribute to sustainable development of the whole region," Issei Nomura said.
