Moscow, Tokyo preparing Russian-Japanese documents for Junichiro Koizumi's visit

Moscow and Tokyo are preparing a Russian-Japanese action programme to be adopted during Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's official visit to Moscow, scheduled for December, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Losyukov told Russian and Japanese journalists. Losyukov headed the Russian delegation at the bilateral consultations between Russian and Japanese deputy foreign ministers in Tokyo on Wednesday.

"The action programme is a serious document, analysing the results of joint work and outlining future actions in different spheres," the deputy minister noted. The Russian and Japanese sides have already prepared their own drafts of the document and are coordinating its provisions, he added.

According to Alexander Losyukov, in addition to "the action programme, some of 12 bilateral agreements, which are under discussion, will be signed during the Russian-Japanese summit".

The Russian and Japanese deputy foreign ministers also agreed to work out a programme of Russian-Japanese energy cooperation. Russian and Japanese experts are to hold consultations in order to boost the elaboration of energy programme, Alexander Losyukov said.
