A draft of an interstate programme of joint measures to combat crime in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in 2003-2005 will dominate the meeting of the working group of experts of the Commonwealth states to be held in Minsk on July 16-19.
As RIA Novosti was told in the headquarters of the CIS Executive Committee in the capital of Belarus, the programme of joint struggle against crime envisages organisational-legal measures - development of the international legal base, preparation of treaties and agreements, and work to harmonize national legislations.
Furthermore, the draft programme includes measures for combating terrorism, contraband, drugs trade and other crimes. Cooperation of the law and order bodies of the CIS in informational and scientific support is presumed.
The experts will consider a draft of a concept of cooperation of the CIS member states in countering drugs and psychotropic substances trafficking.
A draft decision of the Council of Heads of State On Establishing a Branch of the Antiterrorist Centre of the CIS Member States for the Central-Asian Region will also be in the centre of attention of the participants in the meeting.
