President George Bush of the USA said he would like to meet Vladimir Putin before the G-8 summer summit in Genoa. Bush who was speaking in the White House on Tuesday told the press that in the course of a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin held earlier that day the Russian President asked whether it was possible to hold a bilateral summit before the G-8 summit. The US President recalled he had said he would like to have an early meeting with Putin to tell him tete-a-tete that he was sincerely looking for a new way of maintaining peace. In this connection sources in the Bush administration reported that the possibility of holding a meeting between George Bush and Vladimir Putin was being considered and, approximately, it might be held in a European country on June 16, before the US President joins the June summit of the European Union.
