International Scientific Forum on Chernobyl Allocates Money for Rehabilitation Programmes

The International Scientific Forum on Chernobyl has allocated one million dollars for the development of the rehabilitation programmes in the countries which have suffered most of all from the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant - Byelorussia, Russia and Ukraine.

The decision to allocate the money was adopted last week at the forum's session in the IAEA headquarters in Vienna.

The forum participants also discussed the new programme - Cooperation for Rehabilitation - with the budget of four million euros. Its implementation will start in Byelorussia, in the Stolinsky district, in March this year.

The International Scientific Forum on Chernobyl was founded on the initiative of Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed El Baradei in August 2001 after his visit to Byelorussia.
