Moldova and Transdniestria are proposed to resume talks

Intermediaries in the Transdniestrian conflict suggest that Moldovan and Transdniestrian representatives hold a new round of negotiations, reads a Russian Foreign Ministry message.

During the urgent conference held in Moscow on August 19th, the envoys for political issues of Russia, Ukraine, and the OSCE "exchanged their views on the status quo in the negotiating process and around it." They expressed their anxiety about the realisation of agreements achieved at the meeting in Kiev on July 2-3, 2002 and re-affirmed the need to comply with them in full scale," the document points out.

"After extra phone consultations with Chisinau and Tiraspol, the three intermediaries consider it useful to suggest that the representatives of Moldova and Transdniestria hold a regular session of the Permanent Conference for Political Issues," the message emphasises. "It may be held in Chisinau starting from August 22nd, 2002, its venue could be the OSCE mission, and the embassies of Russia and Ukraine alternately," the document reads.
