Kazakhstan threatened with new flood

In Kazakhstan, following a strong hurricane in the Aktyubinsk region, the Alma-Ata region is now threatened with a flood.

The press-service of the Emergency Situations Agency of Kazakhstan reported on Monday that there was still no electricity in most houses of the Irgiz district of Kazakhstan (Aktyubinsk region). Last Friday a strong hurricane hit the region, tearing off the roofs of 400 dwellings, leaving the entire region without telephone communications and electricity supplies. The water supply was also strongly damaged there. During the hurricane four people were injured, one of them had to be hospitalized.

According to the press service of the Emergency Situations Agency of Kazakhstan the water level that has risen in the Talgar river in the Talgar district of the Alma-Ata region of Kazakhstan threatens to flood the suburban settlements. Their residents have already been evacuated.
