Western countries may stop supplying weapons to Ukraine due to the growing discontent of their own citizens who suffer from the consequences of anti-Russian sanctions, the gas crisis and the prolongation of the conflict. About this in an article for 19FortyFive writes Lieutenant Colonel of the US Armed Forces Daniel Davis.
“The scenario is becoming increasingly likely that by autumn and winter, European and American leaders will come under intense pressure to slow or stop the flow of money and weapons to Kyiv. Western economies are already showing signs of an approaching recession.
Partly as a result of massive sanctions against Russia, gasoline prices have risen to historic highs, global food stocks have fallen to near-crisis levels, pushing up the cost of almost everything. The situation with gas in Europe may turn out to be a trigger for reducing Western support for Ukraine," the military believes.
In his opinion, if the crisis lasts all summer and does not end by winter, its consequences for the NATO states will be severe. With the onset of cold weather, the population of the United States and the European Union will increase pressure on the authorities to stop funding Kyiv and supply weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Davis predicts.
