Sergei Fedorov gave the Detroit Red Wings a reminder of what they used to have.
Fedorov scored twice and added an assist against his former team as the Columbus Blue Jackets held on to beat Detroit 4-3 in the NHL on Monday.
"I think it's special for him, but I think he's been unbelievable every game," said teammate Rick Nash, who had a goal and an assist.
The Blue Jackets took a 3-0 lead in the first period on 12 shots and left the ice to a standing ovation.
"In the first period, they had their legs going," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "When one team has their legs going they look good."
But Detroit dominated the final 40 minutes and held a 29-14 shots advantage.
"We were more fresh in the first ... but throughout the middle of the game we were struggling," said Fedorov, who has 10 goals this season and 10 points in his last six games, reports AP.
The Red Wings pulled within 3-2 before Fedorov's second goal with two minutes left, a low shot from the slot on a counter-attack pass from David Vyborny. Robert Lang made it 4-3 just 20 seconds later.
In the first period, Vyborny fed Fedorov for a one-timed shot on the power play to make it 3-0 at 18:38.
