13,127 crimes that dealt with illegal drug sales were committed in Moscow in 2001. This is 10% less compared to 2000, chief of the department for the struggle with illegal drug sales of the Moscow Main Interior Department Vasily Sorokin declared at a press conference in Moscow today. According to him, 7,864 people (2,740 or 33.9% of them were not Muscovites) were convicted of this kind of crime last year. 405 crimes committed by criminal groups were solved. In Sorokin's opinion, the number of crimes dealing with drugs won't reduce this year, despite of the anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan.
