Fsb Detained 10 Foreigners Red-handed In 2001

As a result of long-term and thoroughly planned operations, Russian counter-intelligence officers, in 2001, detained 10 foreigners red-handed, 6 of whom are professional agents of foreign secret services, Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) director Nikolai Patrushev reported at a meeting with chief editors of Russia's major media Tuesday. According to him, 130 officers of foreign secret services have been revealed and are under surveillance. Espionage activity of over 30 of them has been stopped. Patrushev said the FSB had managed to put an end to illegal activity of nearly 50 foreign secret agents, including 6 Russian citizens. According to Patrushev, Turkey, Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia lost their informers.
