Tom Hanks to star in new film based on The Da Vinci Code bestselling novel

The screen adaptation of the Dan Brown bestseller involves a mystery that goes deep inside the Catholic church after the curator of the Louvre is gruesomely murdered, leaving cryptic clues about his killers, reports Film Stew.

According to Ireland Online, in Brown's book, Langdon is the man who cracks the mystery of the renowned Holy Grail.

The film is expected to begin shooting next year.

Meanwhile, Hanks' animated Christmas tale The Polar Express set a $2.1m (Ј1.1m) record for the biggest opening at Imax cinemas in the US.
