Dellas launches his team to the final of EURO 2004

Greece will face Portugal in the final of Euro 2004 after Czech Republic was beaten with an 1-0 score. The Greek defender Traianos Dellas scored silver goal in the last second of the extra time. It is the first major final for Greece which had never won a game at a major tournament before coming to Portugal and was quoted at odds of 80-1 to win the title before it began, reports Reuters. According to sportinglife.com, the game had finished goalless after 90 minutes with the Czechs coming closest to scoring through two Marek Jankulovski efforts which were saved and a thunderous volley from Tomas Rosicky just three minutes in which cannoned back off the bar. Pavel Nedved – the Czech playmaker had to hobble off in the first half and despite a Czech onslaught, the Greeks hung in there and got their reward - a final clash with Portugal; a repeat of the opening game of the tournament.
