Polish Exhibition Polexport to Take Place in Kaliningrad on May 20-23

The seventh national Polish exhibition Polexport will open in Kaliningrad on May 20 and is expected to be the largest display of its kind in Russia. This was announced yesterday by Boeena Wroblewska, director of the Polish-Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Markets.

The first of these exhibitions took place in 1995 and only involved about 100 different companies. This year, however, that figure is expected to rise to almost 300. Moreover, people are travelling to Kaliningrad from almost all over Poland in order to display their materials, technology, machines and equipment. Organisers of the event also expect about 30 Lithuanian firms to participate in the exhibition. According to Ms Wroblewska, Polish businesses have shown an interest in the exhibition as most of them regard the Kaliningrad Region as the best place for promoting their goods in the rest of Russia and the CIS.

As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, Deputy Polish Prime Minister Marek Pol may take part in the opening ceremony. An economic forum will also be held as part of the exhibition where participants will discuss the problems of developing bilateral relations in the context of EU expansion and there will also be a meeting of the joint Russian-Polish Committee for Economic Cooperation.
