Vaccine against HIV to appear in Russia soon

A vaccine against HIV will soon appear in Russia. The relevant drugs, including anti-HIV and anti-cancer medications, are going through the process of registration, Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova said.

"At the moment, several unique domestic vaccines are going through the registration process, including three vaccines against HIV infection. These drugs act through signaling molecules, i.e. they are the drugs that have multilateral anti-inflammatory and anti-oncological effects," said Skvortsova in St. Petersburg at the meeting of the presidium of the presidential council for economic modernization and innovative development.

A few days ago, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, chief state sanitary doctor of Russia, Anna Popova, also said that an HIV vaccine would appear in the near future. Russian medicine has achieved significant results in this area, she added.

"Our science has advanced very far. I believe that the vaccine will appear. I dare not say when it happens, but I hope that in the near future," said Popova.
