Horse Is Found Butchered Sunday Along Rural Miami Road

The mutilated body of a horse was found about midnight Sunday, discarded on an empty stretch of road in the western reaches of Miami-Dade County.

According to police reports, investigators received an anonymous tip that the horse's body was left on the side of Southwest 212th Avenue near 154th Street.

Police arrived about 1 a.m. and discovered the horse's two left legs had been cut off and the left side of its neck had been mutilated, the report stated, MiamiHerald.com reports.

Meanwhile, the latest horse was found butchered Sunday along a rural Miami road on the edge of the Everglades.

Miami-Dade police say the horse had been mutilated.

Two horses were found slaughtered in a similar way in nearby Miramar several months ago. Authorities there also believe the horses were butchered for their meat.

Officials believe the meat is being sold on the black market since the sale of horse meat is illegal in the U.S. , FOXNews reports.

Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities in Florida are investigating the death of another horse apparently butchered for its meat.

Miami-Dade County Police discovered the horse's carcass July 19 after an anonymous tipster reported it lying near a roadway. The flesh from the horse's sides had been removed and its neck was mutilated, TheHorse.com reports.
