Moscow prosecutor's office to look into ex-head of FSB murder case

The case of murder of retired Colonel General Anatoly Trofimov, ex-Head of Federal Security Service (FSB) Department of Moscow and the Moscow region, has been submitted to the prosecutor's office of the capital, a spokesman for the press service of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.

"The case was reviewed and estimated as double murder after Tatyana Kopytsina, Trofimov's 28 year old common-law wife wounded in the assault, died in hospital," the source was quoted as saying.

According to the interlocutor, the case has been transferred to the Murder and Banditry Department of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office.

"All versions, including that regarding Trofimov's professional activity, are currently being studied," the press service specified, citing Trofimov's recent post of deputy head of a commercial structure.

On Sunday, April 10, at 19:25, Moscow time, an unknown person shot down Trofimov and Tatyana Kopytsina, who accompanied him, in front of building 11, Klyazminskaya Street, the prosecutor's office reports. Three 9-mm foreign-made cartridges were discovered on the site by the police. The source noted that such cartridges are used in a wide range of foreign arms.

Trofimov received no less that three wounds and was died on the spot. Kopytsina died in hospital later.
