Chukchi doctors save life of Chinese sailor

Doctors at the Chukchi district hospital in Anadyr (Russian Far East, Chukchi Autonomous Area) successfully operated on a Chinese sailor and saved his life.

A spokesman for the government of the autonomous area told RIA Novosti Wednesday that the Chinese citizen was brought to the hospital by helicopter from a fishing boat in the Bering Sea with a serious gastric hemorrhage.

Presently, the patient is in stable condition, but he will have to stay in the hospital for at least another two weeks for a complete recovery.

Situations that require urgent medial care occur occasionally on fishing boats in the Bering Sea. In the past two years, the Chukchi district hospital has given urgent medical care to twelve foreign sailors and fishermen under an agreement with the Russian government.
