The Russian government determined the functions and staff list of all ministries, services and agencies in its jurisdiction, a source in the Cabinet told RIA Novosti.
This stage of the government reform will be completed a month after President Vladimir Putin's decree "On the system and structure of federal executive bodies" of March 9.
"Resolutions were adopted which determine the functions and the maximum staff number of 53 federal executive bodies, including 9 ministries," said the source while summing up the cabinet's week-long work in this regard.
On Friday, Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov signed 39 relevant resolutions.
Next week, in his words, the government plans to complete the appointment of deputy ministers and deputy heads of federal services and agencies.
"For the time being they [deputies] are appointed by the government after being presented by ministers. After relevant amendments to the legislation are made, the appointment of deputies will be the prerogative of ministers," specified the source.
"The minister will appoint heads of ministry departments," he added.
