Russia for greater transparency of space missions

Russia has initiated the provision of early information to the international community on upcoming launches of space objects, their purpose and basic parameters.

The initiative proceeds from Russia's policy towards "the expansion of openness and the strengthening of trust in the sphere of space activities and in the interests of ensuring predictability in the use of space", the RIA Novosti correspondent has learnt from the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Russia proceeds from the assumption that measures of ensuring openness and strengthening trust in space "could be joined by other space powers having modern means for the launch of space objects which would be conducive, on the whole, to the strengthening of the peace status of space".

All current information on Russia's space launches is placed on the Internet site of the Russian Foreign Ministry (www.mid.ru), said the Foreign Ministry.
