Britain is to take part in a new project to solve problems of wastewater treatment throughout Russia. This was announced by British Consul General in St. Petersburg Barbara Hay while speaking at the Day of Environmental Safety and Sustainable Development. She said that the project would be carried out jointly with Gosstroi, using local utility company Vodokanal St. Petersburg's experience. Hay noted that it was necessary to continue collaboration between Russia and Britain in protecting the environment, as 'ecology knows no bounds.'
The Day of Environmental Safety is part of the 'Week of Science in St. Petersburg'. The project consists of a series of varied events in St. Petersburg involving leading scientists and experts from Russia and Britain. The aim of the science week is to demonstrate modern Britain's achievements in science and technology. The project is organised by the British Council and the British Embassy.
