Privatisation of federal property will be intensified in Russia

This year the government has succeeded in "enlivening" the work in the sphere of privatising the federal property, and in 2003 this process will be intensified even more. Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov spoke about it in opening the government's extraordinary session on Friday which discusses a number of programmes necessary to form the draft Budget-2003.

The already existing experience testifies to the necessity of privatising the potentially competitive sectors and preserving infrastructure in the hands of the state, underscored Mikhail Kasyanov.

In this connection, the Prime Minister also pointed out that the task of the state, in determining priorities in spending money under the federal targeted investment programme, is to invest those projects which make it possible for the government to influence the economy, that is, in the first place, infrastructure, said Mikhail Kasyanov.
