Russia - Tajikistan's main commercial partner

Russia is Tajikistan's main commercial partner, Jamoliddin Karayev, senior expert of the central Asian republic's Ministry of Economy and Trade, stated.

According to him, the turnover between the two countries amounts to $360.9 mln, which is 32% of the total volume of the republic's foreign trade.

Over 10 years /1992-2001/ the two countries signed about 150 interstate, intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents, regulating trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia, Karayev remarked.

Though the specific weight of the turnover between our countries has decreased, "making $234.1 mln last year", we have great prospects of cooperation in the sphere of energy, industry, agriculture, as well as science, culture and education, Karayev announced optimistically.
