Public unrest in the 2nd largest Chechen city

All of a sudden, the situation in the city of Argun in Chechnya, has worsened. Several hundreds of local residents, mainly women, blocked today in the morning the motor-road bridge over the Argun river. An unauthorized rally then was held. The protesters demanded to immediately release the local residents detained lately by law-enforcement bodies. The protests were triggered by the detention of a local schoolmistress by soldiers at one of roadblock, the reasons being unknown. The authorities are reported to be determined to defuse the situation exclusively by peaceful means.
