US Coast Guards Strengthen Cooperation With Russian Sea Border-Guards

A delegation of the US coast guards, headed by rear admiral Thomas Barret, arrives on Monday in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky with the aim of further developing cooperation with the North-Eastern regional department of the Federal Border Guard Service. RIA Novosti was informed in the press centre of the North-Eastern department of the Russian Federal Border Guard Service that during the American border-guards' visit a new agreement on bilateral partnership will be signed. The active cooperation between the border-guards of the two countries began ten years ago. Since then, mutual visits, exchange of current information and joint operations to stop poaching in the Bering Sea have become regular. The patrol ship of the American coast guards Boatwell will arrive in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on a friendly visit on April 26. According to tradition, the visit will be completed by joint Russian-American exercises in the Bering Sea to stop poaching and rescue people during a shipwreck.
