Incumbent President Vladimir Putin is still Russia's most popular politician. According to the latest opinion survey conducted by the Public Opinion foundation, 37 percent of those taking part in the survey put trust on Vladimir Putin. As much as 42 percent of the electorate would cast their votes for him if a presidential poll took place this next Sunday. Next, as far as popularity goes, come Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov and Vladimir Zhirinovsky, leading the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia. They enjoy confidence of 13 and 8 percent of Russia's residents respectively. Some 16 percent of the respondents would support Zyuganov at the election if it occurred this Sunday, whereas 5 percent would prefer to have Zhirinovsky as their president.
