The Russian orbital station Mir ceased to exist at 8.59:24 Moscow time. The scuttling of the station passed off according to plan. The station’s unburnt fragments scattered over the area which proved half of the planned one. The coordinates of the centre of the fall of the fragments were 40 degrees South and 160 degrees West. The scattering of the unburnt fragments by the longitudinal axis was within 1,500 kilometres. According to RIA Novosti, the work of the specialists in ballistics received an excellent mark, although there was no applause at the Mission Control Centre (TsUP).
