GORE ACKNOWLEDGES HIS DEFEAT AT 5 SHARP, AS PROMISED

In his special televized address to the American people, US Vice-President Al Gore said he was withdrawing his candidacy from the presidential race. Mr. Gore emphasized that the latest campaign should not cast a shadow of doubt on the America’s might. “The strength of the American democracy can be seen more clearly in the light of the difficulties it proves able to overcome. Staying faithful to our different political views, we remember our duty which outweighs our duty to our political party. This is America, and the country is for us the highest consideration,” Mr. Gore said. While Mr. Gore was delivering his speech, his wife, children, and also his electoral partner Joe Liberman were standing beside him.
