GEORGIANS DEMAND “CHECHENS AND BANDITS” TO BE EXPELLED

Over 1000 people have blocked the road leading to the Pankisskoye gorge in Caucasus. They demand to expel from the country “Chechens and bandits” guilty of kidnappings, including two Spaniards captured last week in Tbilisi, Georgia’s capital. They are believed to be currently kept in the Pankisskoye gorge together with other hostages. About 10,000 people, mostly Chechens, live in the gorge. On top of that, about 7,000 Chechens are believed to have crossed the Russia-Georgia border and are now hiding on Georgia’s territory.
