The Portuguese quality daily newspaper, “Pъblico” quoted the results of an opinion poll carried out by the ROMIR institute, in which the Russian people affirmed that they are happy with President Putin. 56.6 % approved of the President’s governing of the country, while only 14.4% said they thought President Vladimir Putin had governed badly. President Putin is seen in Portugal as a “hands-on” action man. His black belt in judo is always mentioned with his name and when his photograph appears in newspapers, he is either dressed in judo gear or is seen throwing people, or being thrown, on his visits abroad. In short, an active figure, very much in control. That is the image presented in the Portuguese press.
