The lack of concrete results in Sharm el-Sheikh has come as no surprise for Russian diplomacy, a high-ranking official of Russia’s presidential administration told Interfax news agency. The Middle-East problem is a complex entanglement which demands continuous efforts to be exerted, he added. At that, the format of talks and contacts is not of major importance. The main factor, in his words, is a relentless work with all the parties concerned. “Exactly that kind of work on Russia’s part is being done by Russia’s special envoy and foreign minister,” he emphasized. There is an impression that the phasing of the talks is being persistently adjusted to the US presidential campaign, and this is not quite right, said the official.
