Russian Social Democrats will merge in an united party to convene an inaugural congress, November 24, organisers announced to a news conference in Moscow. The merger, under the name of United Social Democratic Party, is involving four political parties and the movement, Spiritual Heritage. Mikhail Gorbachev, once USSR President, who is masterminding the unity efforts, is likely to lead the new party, say analysts.
