Spokesmen for the Taliban movement claimed today that they managed to win in at least one large battle with the Northern Alliance forces. They also informed about one tactical success. The Taliban repulsed the forces of the Alliance last night and on Saturday morning, destroyed an autocade in Kandagar and Gilmend province in the south of Afghanistan.
This was informed today by Afghan Islamic Press news agency. The agency reported that as a result of the brutal battle the offensive of the anti-Taliban alliance failed. The forces of the Northern Alliance had a goal to cut the road from Kandagar to the Pakistani border and also to stop the movement of the autocade in Gilmend province.
Nevertheless, there have not been any statements on the score from the Northern Alliance and numerous foreign correspondents in Afghanistan. So it is quite possible the Talibs are bluffing again about their incredible successes.
Meanwhile, the Northern Alliance is not sleeping. Here is the latest information about the assault of the city of Kunduz. The troops of the anti-Taliban coalition entered Kunduz almost without a battle. A group of the Afghan gunmen yielded to the troops of one of the leaders of the anti-Taliban coalition on their own accord.
