Meeting is Held in Chechnya on Security During Referendum

The regional headquarters in charge of the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus held a meeting at the Khankala military base on Saturday.

According to the Chechen Government's information department, participants of the meeting discussed various issues pertaining to security arrangements during the forthcoming referendum on the Constitution of the Chechen Republic. Among other things, they considered measures required for protection of the population, polling stations and members of the electoral commissions in the course of the referendum.

The meeting was attended by Russia's Minister for Chechen affairs, Stanislav Ilyasov, and the Republic's Prime Minister Anatoly Popov.
