A joint Swiss economic mission headed by State Secretary David Syz arrived in the Novgorod Region yesterday on a working visit. The delegation includes members of the Swiss government, and also representatives of the banking, industrial, and trade sectors.
According to the regional administration's press office, the delegation was hosted for the first half of the day by governor Mikhail Prusak. He told his guests about the region, paying special attention to the opportunities for increasing cooperation in the small and medium-sized business sectors. The meeting with the governor was also attended by Anatoly Boitsev, the speaker of the regional parliament, Novgorod Mayor Nikolai Grazhdankin, Isaak Slutsker, the chairman of the coordinating committee of the region's Manufacturers' Foundation and general director of Novgorod Timber Producers, and Viktor Bykov, the president of the Novgorod Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
David Syz gave a high appraisal of the attractiveness of the region to investors. He said that the destination for the visit had not been chosen at random, but had been selected on the basis of data provided by well-known expert firms which stressed the favourable opportunities for developing business in the Novgorod Region. According to Syz, the mission will have fulfilled its role is Swiss business circles are able to establish projects in the Novgorod Region.
The programme for the visit by the Swiss economic mission includes trips to the Garo and Dirol shareholder plants, the regional architecture and town-planning board, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and local attractions.
