"Fish and Sea Products. The Far East-2002" international exhibition opened in Khabarovsk on Thursday. Taking part in it are representatives of major Far Eastern companies of Russia, China and Germany which are engaged in fish catching and processing.
RIA Novosti received this information from Irina Belova, in charge of the exhibitions department at the Khabarovsk-based scientific-technical information centre. Ships and equipment necessary for coastal catch, fish processing enterprises' produce, and the latest medicines made of sea products will be displayed in the halls and on stands.
"Our aim is to show the achievements of the industry, the latest equipment and production processes," Irina Belova said. "At the same time we are going to expand and strengthen business ties between entrepreneurs from the region, other Russian territories and foreign states." A specific feature of this exhibition, Irina Belova stressed, is to render all possible assistance to small business in fisheries, fish and other sea products processing, and in the sale of the industry's produce with profit. The programme includes a conference on new production processes in the industry and to recipes of new fish delicacies. The conference will be organised by German experts. A seminar on planning, advertisement and marketing will also be held.
Representatives of the international fish industry exchange will be guests at the exhibition.
