Sergei Ivanov: Families of soldiers killed in Chechnya will get all necessary aid

Families of Russian servicemen who were killed in Chechnya will get government aid, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov said on Monday.

According to Ivanov, the Russian leadership is fully aware of the impossibility of making up for a son or a husband who were killed in action, but will nevertheless do everything possible to help their families.

He said the families of privates will get at least 100,000 rubles. On the whole, the government is planning to allocate up to 200,000 rubles for each family.

On his part, the chief of the Federal Border Service Konstantin Totsky recalled the incident of July 27, when militants made a breakthrough in Chechnya's Itum-Kali district. The situation was reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 29. "During our telephone conversation, the president stressed three times that the families of the soldiers killed must get all necessary aid," said Totsky.

Upon his arrival in Mineralnye Vody, the defence minister announced that he and the FBS chief had circumaviated "the whole perimeter of the Russian-Georgian border."
