LUKoil's shares and ADRs added to official register in UK

The UK Listing Department has granted an application submitted by LUKoil and added ordinary shares in the company and its first-tier depository notes (ADR-I, as well as additional documents for the statement (issue prospectus) of August 1, 2002 to the official register of the department. This decision is expected to come into force beginning August 6, 2002, the LUKoil Press Service reported. As it was reported earlier, the company's application was due to the intention of the Russian Federal Property Fund to place global depository notes (GDRs) for 5.9% of the ordinary shares in LUKoil at the London Stock Exchange. The placement, which was scheduled for August 1, 2002, has been cancelled because the fund and potential investors failed to reach an agreement on the price at which the securities were to be placed at the exchange. The roadshow for the GDRs was conducted in New York, London and Boston from July 24 until July 29, 2002.
