A Russia woman hostage released in Chechnya

A 26-year-old Russian woman from the Stavropol Territory, who was taken hostage more than ten months ago, was released in Chechnya on Sunday, the information and public relations department of the Chechen Interior Ministry told RIA Novosti on Monday by telephone.

The hostage was released in the course of the militia operation in the village of Shaami-Yurt.

The woman was kidnapped in February 2003 in Budyonnovsk (Stavropol Territory) and then taken to Kizlyar (Daghestan, a republic of the Russian Federation bordering on Chechnya). "Searches for the persons concerned in kidnapping continue. Nobody has yet been detained," pointed out the spokesman for the Interior ministry.
