Emergency Measures Being Taken in Far East to Prevent Penetration of Atypical Pneumonia

A special staff for preventing atypical pneumonia was set up in Khabarovsk (the south of the Far East of Russia).

As the press service of the government of the Khabarovsk Territory reported, the staff includes representatives of power and of the centres of state sanitary-epidemiological supervision in Khabarovsk, on the Far-Eastern railway, in water and air transport, and in the Far-Eastern regional directorate of the Federal Frontier Service of the Russian Federation.

At its meeting on Thursday the staff decided to ban passage of foreign citizens with symptoms of sickness through the state border. Besides that, a quarantine period of ten days was established for crews of cargo ships of the PRC during which it is forbidden to them to go ashore. It is forbidden to crews of Russian cargo ships with the Khabarovsk ports of registration to enter the Asia-Pacific Region ports where atypical pneumonia has been registered.

An isolation ward for examining patients suspected of having contracted atypical pneumonia was set up at a building of the Amursky sanatorium in Khabarovsk.
