Russia, Lebanon Speak Up For Overcoming Middle-East Crisis

Russia and Lebanon speak up for the earliest overcoming of the critical situation in the Middle East and resuming the Arab-Israeli negotiating process. This position of the two sides was reaffirmed at a meeting in Moscow on Friday between Russian state secretary - deputy foreign minister Vassily Sredin and the ambassador of the Republic of Lebanon to Moscow, Boutros Asaker. On Saturday the press and information department of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the meeting was held at the request of the Lebanese diplomat. He informed the Russian side of his country's position regarding a recent incident near the Lebanese-Israeli border and the firing of Syrian troops' positions in Lebanon. In his turn, Vassily Sredin stressed the need of preventing the escalation of tensions in the Syria-Lebanon- Israel triangle. At this meeting were discussed also several issues of bilateral relations, noted the Russian foreign policy department.
