Russian law-enforcement bodies have conducted a number of special operations against Chechen rebel groups in the past 24 hours. An organiser of terrorist actions against federal forces has been killed in the Chechen town of Argun. During the shooting which followed the arrest, the rebel was killed. His fist name and his surname have not been revealed to the press. Another criminal, who had long been on a wanted list, was arrested in the district centre of Naur. It was revealed that he "was involved in repressing the Russian-speaking population of the republic." The detainee had a grenade-launcher, 400 g of plasticine and electric detonators. No casualties among law-enforcement officers have been reported.
