Chechen separatists to open another representation office in Georgia?

The leadership of Chechen separatists is trying to open in Georgia another representation office of illegal paramilitary formations, disguised under the name of "the Georgian bureau of the Kavkaztsentr international information agency." This was reported on Saturday by Colonel Ilya Shabalkin, a representative of the regional operational staff on controlling the counter-terror operation in the North Caucasus.

The Colonel emphasized that Maskhadov had ordered Movladi Udugov, appointed by him "head of the external information service", to organize it.

In Mr Shabalkin's words, this structure is called upon to distribute information that would discredit the activities of the federal forces and Russian journalists covering events in Chechnya, as well as to replicate propaganda materials on the developments in the republic.

Besides, according to the Colonel, in Azerbaijan illegal armed formations accomplices are trying to involve Baku State University students in the activity of a movement called "For Chechnya's Liberation."
