The increasing cost of fuel spurred Northwest Airlines’ unit to raise fuel surcharges in a number of markets.
NWA Cargo unit will increase:
- international fuel surcharges (to $1.20 per kilogram from $1.10), excluding traffic originating in Japan;
- westbound Trans-Pacific shipments from the United States to Shanghai, Guangzhou, and points beyond (additional 40 cents per kilogram);
- domestic U.S. fuel surcharges (to 44 cents per pound from 42 cents);
- security surcharge (to 6 cents per pound from 4.5 cents).
The changes are effective June 1.
