During a performance at the Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts, in Los Vegas, Nevada, Linda Ronstadt, a singer and pop diva, was physically walked off the stage and sent packing.
Her crime – dedicating a song to Michael Moore. Michael Moore is a film essayist and author of “Bowling for Columbine” and “Fahrenheit 9/11”.
Ms. Ronsdtadt dedicated the song "Desperado" to Moore, and apparently the audience didn’t appreciate it and starting walking out.
Ms. Ronstadt was quoted as saying about Michael Moore "[he] is someone who cares about this country deeply and is trying to help."
Aladdin President Bill Timmins response was to order security guards to escort Ms. Ronstadt off the property. A brilliant move by a company that is facing bankruptcy.
Ms. Ronstadt’s reaction to it all "Vegas isn't the best place to perform anyway".
However, on the other side of the spectrum, Jerry Falwell, a Hell, Fire and Brimstone type, minister who is fond of quoting separation of church and state, is pitching pro-Bush political statements from his office at his religious college. Rumors have it that Falwell has been in trouble for this sort of thing before.
You can read more about Ms. Ronstad’s firing in the Las Vegas Sun.
Why is it, that all the stars that make anti-Bush statements, are getting fired these days?
