Vladimir Putin calls upon the EurAsec member-countries to coordinate their positions in joining the WTO

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called upon the member-countries of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEc) to coordinate their positions in entering the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

Answering the questions of the personnel of the Academician Bakulev Cardiovascular Surgery Centre, which he visited on Thursday, the Russian President said that "in case of entering the WTO at any price" the countries which want to become members of this organisation will have, in accordance with the demands, "to zeroize the tariffs which will entail an influx of high-quality goods from Europe to their markets." The EurAsEc countries, when entering the WTO, "will send their own goods to Russia, and we, in turn, will have to introduce a tough customs barrier, which is bad, because this measure entails new economic divisions," said the head of the state.

Thew EurAsEc members are Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
