Kiev authorities to build skating rink on Maidan

The Kiev authorities ordered to make a skating rink on Maidain Square. Public skating will be launched on December 15th. Officials with the city government addressed to the Ministry for Internal Affairs with an adequate request.

Earlier, on November 30th, the authorities tried to disperse the protesters, later explaining the actions with a need to "clean up the main square of the country to install there a Christmas tree and build a skating rink." Berkut special squad took part in the operation to disperse the crowd; dozens of people were injured.

On Monday, December 9^th, special forces and internal troops ousted opposition activists from the government quarter. Reportedly, festive New Year events in the city center will be canceled, not to create "another source of tension."
