President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a law to strengthen sanctions for driving in a state of alcoholic intoxication. Law enforcement authorities of Belarus now have the right to withdraw vehicles from their drunk owners during the second violation, within one year.

This form of punishment will be applied to all drunk drivers without exception, including Russian citizens.

The rule will not affect only the vehicles had been taken away from owners criminally, for example, as a result of theft. 

The new law will come into force in three months.
