Russian arms exports in 2013 total $13.2 billion

Russian arms exports abroad in 2013 amounted to 13.2 billion dollars, the head of Russian defense export giant, Rosoboronexport, Anatoly Isaykin said.

According to him, Russia sold weapons and military equipment in the amount of 13 billion 200 million dollars in 2013. The list of major importing countries includes China, India and Vietnam. In total, deliveries were made to 60 countries of the world, said the head of Rosoboronexport.

He explained that within two or three years, arms exports should be maintained at $13 billion. New types of equipment, which attract interest of foreign customers must first enroll in the Russian army, before it can be exported, concluded Isaykin.

The official doubts that revenues may exceed $15 billion in the near future. Currently, there is a war in Syria, revolutions in Libya and Egypt; there is also an embargo on arms shipments to Iran. "These are the countries that we pinned great hopes on," he said.

According to the head of the agency, Russia's main arms customers are still India, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Venezuela, Algeria and Malaysia. The share of these countries is more than 75 percent of all deliveries.
