War in Ukraine to end in spring 2015

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a telephone conversation over the weekend with US Secretary of State John Kerry to discuss the situation in Ukraine. In the course of the conversation, the head of the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry  urged Washington to show influence on the Kiev authorities to avoid the development of the military scenario for the solution of the crisis in the southeast of Ukraine. 

At the same time, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in her recent telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, called on the Russian president to avoid further escalation of the conflict, but act within the framework of the Minsk Agreement and put pressure on "separatists". 

Do these conversations demonstrate politicians' unwillingness to understand each other? Pravda.Ru asked the director of the Ukrainian Institute for Analysis and Management of Politics Ruslan Bortnik to comment on the situation. 

"This is a game that targets domestic consumers. If Russia calls on Kerry to show influence on Kiev to move in a certain direction, it means that Kiev is not independent. It also undermines the domestic legitimacy of the Ukrainian authorities. It's like Merkel urging Moscow to influence the breakaway republics.  This suggests that the two republics are not independent, and that it is Moscow to blame for the crisis. This is a form of diplomatic language that says that you are guilty, you solve this problem. The game of diplomatic football continues from the beginning of the conflict," said Ruslan Bortnik.
